On 25 November 2021, the world health organization listed Omicron as a newly arisen and fifth variant of concern (VoC) severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The genome sequence showed utmost number mutations compared to other known VoCs up now, it was regarded only SARS-CoV-2 with changes in receptor-binding domain (RBD). However, is still detectable via previous polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. Clinical presentation disease identical VoCs, however vitro vivo studies revealed higher transmission rate. biggest obstacles posed by are immune escape reduction vaccine effectiveness, indicated many simulations real-world studies.
